District Leadership Committee Member

← All volunteer roles

The District Leadership Committee finds, interviews and evaluates candidates for the district’s elected offices, and nominates candidates for election. Every division is represented equally on the committee.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and seek out qualified candidates for each elected position
  • Meet regularly to assess candidates, and complete the selection process on the bylaws’ timeline
  • Confirm each candidate meets the qualifications, and review the duties of the role with them in detail
  • Interview candidates (each is interviewed by at least two members) and evaluate them using the Candidate Evaluation and District Officer Competencies documents
  • Vote in writing; a candidate needs a majority vote of the committee to be nominated
  • Keep the committee’s deliberations and votes confidential, and declare any conflict of interest
  • Don’t campaign for or endorse any candidate for district office

What you’ll gain

  • Help choose the candidates who will lead the district
  • Practise interviewing and independent judgment

  • Not an International Officer or Director candidate, a Board Member, a Region Advisor or a Region Advisor applicant
  • You may be appointed again only after a year off the committee
  • You can’t be nominated or run from the floor for any district office in the program year after the election the committee reports to
  • Complete a Committee Member Agreement before the committee begins its work
