Toastmasters International: Speech Contests

Speech contests are a Toastmasters tradition. Each year, thousands of Toastmasters compete for the top spot in District 61 to be crowned the best public speaker. At this contest event, the contestants will compete in the following:

• Humourous Speech Contest - Contestants present a five- to seven- minute speech thematic in nature (open, body, close) not a monologue (series of one-liners)

• International Speech Contest - Contestants present a five- to seven- minute speech to deliver a message of their choosing.

Speech Contests benefit everyone, providing:

• an opportunity for speakers to improve their speaking abilities,

• recognition to the best as encouragement to all,

• the opportunity to learn by observing other speakers.

Each contest begins at the club level. Winners of the club contests continue to compete at the District contests.

Winners of the Division contests will move to the District Level Contests.

The Humourous Speech Contest will be on 2026-11-29 in Montreal.

The International Speech Contest will be held at the District Conference in Quebec City on 2027-04-17

Get Started on Your DTM (Bilingual) Take 3 - Prise 3

Distinguished Toastmaster Award: ‘Get on the Bus’ for a Joyful Journey
Facilitators: Shirley McKey, DTM and Nadia Banville

If you missed the DTM workshop bus in September another one will be arriving on Thursday, November 12 at 19:00.

By understanding how to navigate the route of the DTM program, and drawing on the experience of veteran Toastmasters, you can purposefully spend your time following a direct course to completing the requirements of a DTM award.

Who? Any Toastmaster with the goal to achieve a Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award who has already completed at least Level 3 of one Path. It is understood that participants will already have a grasp of the educational requirements of Pathways.

What? This bilingual, interactive, joyful journey is for those who want to embrace the opportunities of communication and leadership on the road to a DTM award.

Based on the DTM Award Application, this workshop will work through the application to provide participants with an understanding of what is required to achieve the award and how to proceed by proactively addressing the steps over and above the Pathways education projects.

District 61 Annual District Council Meeting

The Annual District Council Meeting is where District 61 conducts its most important business of the year. Club presidents and vice presidents education from across Québec and eastern Ontario, together with the district leadership team, meet to make decisions that shape the district’s direction for the year ahead.

The agenda includes the election of district officers for the 2027–2028 term, adoption of the district alignment, and other business brought before the Council. Each club’s votes are cast by its president or vice president education, so please make sure at least one of your club’s officers attends.
