Club Coach

← All volunteer roles

A Club Coach helps a struggling club rebuild to a healthy membership, and shows its members how to keep their enthusiasm and stay with the Toastmasters education program.

Responsibilities

  • Agree on the terms with the club and the district in a signed Club Coach Agreement
  • Coach the club back to a healthy membership
  • Report on the club’s status to its officers and the district: within 30 days of your appointment, then every 60 days, and a final report

What you’ll gain

  • Counts toward the “Club Mentor or Club Coach” requirement of the Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) award when you serve at least six months, submit your reports, the Club President confirms in writing that you did the job, and the club reaches Distinguished or higher by 30 June
  • Also earns district officer credit if the club reaches full charter strength, 20 members, during your term

Who we’re looking for

  • An active member in good standing, with at least one year of membership in a club other than the one you coach
  • Not a member of the club you coach, and no position in it, while you coach it; a former member qualifies after six months away
  • Completed Level 2 in any Pathways path, or earned an Advanced Communicator Bronze (ACB) or Advanced Leadership Bronze (ALB) in the traditional program
  • Served as a club officer for one program year, or two six-month terms
  • Completed the Club Coach Training Module
  • Not coaching any other club
  • The club must have 3 to 12 active members, must not be suspended, and must have at least one officer who has completed the Club Coach Training Module

How this role is filled

Appointed by the district. A club, or a member who wants to coach it, may ask the district for a coach.

Term
Until the club is healthy again. A coach still unsuccessful after two program years may be reappointed once, for up to two more.
